AVOID PCBS,or PolyChloroBiphenyls IN FOOD

The PCBS, or PolyChloroBiphenyls, and PCT or PolyChloroTerphenyls are chlorinated chemical derivatives . Like dioxins, they are complex molecules classified in Persistent Organic Pollutants. They have been used extensively by the industry since the 1930.

PCBS, what's the point?

PCBS or pyralenes are used as electrical insulation, so the place where they are most often found is inside electrical transformers.

Known by their electrical insulation propertys, lubrication and non-flammability properties, PCBS have also been used in capacitors, as lubricants in turbines or pumps or as components of welds oils,  adhesives, paints and carbonless papers.

What is the environmental consequences of PCBS?

PCBS are pollution substanc, a real disaster for nature. Indeed, the molecular structure of PCBS makes them extremely persistent in ecosystems.

PCBS have been classified as "probable carcinogens" by the CIRC, because they are part of the endocrine disruptors.

Finding PCBS in the environment poses a significant problem: PCBS concentrate in sediments and enter the food chain. In fact, PCBS dissolve in fats where they accumulate and can reach his concentrations

This is why PCBS are at in the top of  food chain, especially in humans. It is therefore possible that PCBS are found in your "reserve fat" but also within the membranes of your cells.

Even at very low doses, exposure of the fetus in PCBS may result  reduced :
attention, memory, verbal ability and psychomotor level of a child. This major danger of exposure to PCBS during pregnancy poses a significant risk of defective cerebral, immune and endocrine development in children
